Current Work/Current Thoughts
Since I left the active practice of law in 1982 after 10 dedicated years I have been steadfast in pursuit of my personal mission. Aside from studying and practicing and teaching conflict resolution skills I have been pursuing my vision of the legal profession as a healing, facilitative profession. Through conference presentations, public speaking and writing I have been doing my best to wake people up to the reality that essentially the practice of law is about guiding people through major life transitions. The vision I hold is lawyer's acting as co-mediators to move their clients from where they are to where they want to be. For me a recent acknowledgement has come in the form of a request from the "International Centre for Healing and the Law." The Centre is working on a book about progressive movements in the legal profession and they asked me to write the chapter about negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. That acknowledgement from my peers made me very happy and recognized some of the leading edge work I have been doing.
