From October 9–11, 2026 members of the Project for Integrating Spirituality, Law, and Politics (PISLAP) will gather in Minneapolis for a retreat centered on the relationship between spirituality, law, politics, and community action.
A primary focus of the retreat will be the "Minnesota Resistance"—the spontaneous neighborhood organizing and rapid citizen mobilization that emerged in Minneapolis in response to the ICE actions earlier this year. Participants will examine the movement as a case study in civic engagement and consider its broader significance for integrating spiritual values into legal and political life. The retreat will explore how this experience has had profound and transformational effects on local communities and has become a model that is now being adapted in other places around the world.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity to discuss several new initiatives currently being developed within PISLAP. Through presentations and dialogue, participants will reflect on the organization's ongoing work and its efforts to foster a deeper understanding of the spiritual dimensions of law, governance, and public life.
The retreat will begin on Friday evening, October 9, and conclude at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11.
A limited number of spaces remain available. Attendance is open to PISLAP members. Those interested in participating may become members by visiting www.spiritlawpolitics.org/membership.
